During ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄʏ, babies are as close to their moms as they can be, getting warmth, food, protection, and ᴏxʏɢᴇɴ from their mother’s body. Then, ʟᴀʙᴏʀ ᴏᴄᴄᴜʀs and babies suddenly find themselves without immediate access to those essential needs. It is not surprising that study after study has shown a host of benefits for babies who experience skin-to-skin care with their mothers. When babies are held naked against their mother’s skin, it is the closest they can get to being back in the warmth and security of the womb.
Recently, the emotional moment a newborn baby clings on to her mother’s face after meeting for the first time. The bond between a mother and child can be difficult to put into words. Newborn baby Agata Ribeiro was filmed embracing her mum and kissing her on the cheek just seconds after being born via C-sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ in Brazil. Ágata Ribeiro Coêlho was born via C-sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ on April 5 in Santa Monica hospital, Brazil. The little bundle of joy, wrapped in a turquoise-colored blanket, clung to her mother, a reaction that took everyone by surprise. Fortunately, ᴍᴇᴅɪᴄs managed to capture the instant connection on camera when Ágata Ribeiro Coêlho clung to her mother’s face in an emotional embrace following her birth. She then continues to cling on as the ᴅᴏᴄᴛᴏʀs and ɴᴜʀsᴇs tend to her mum.
Brenda, 24, said: “It was an incredible moment when my daughter hugged me for the first time.” The administrative assistant added: “The medical team were great and were all really surprised that she acted this way, they couldn’t believe how affectionate she was with me. Ágata is now three months old and is doing great, every day is a surprise and I love being a mother.”
It is not the first time a baby has been filmed clinging to its mum immediately after its birth. Three years ago, adorable footage of a baby ʀᴇғᴜsɪɴɢ to let go of its ᴇxʜᴀᴜsᴛᴇᴅ ᴍᴏᴛʜᴇʀ moments after being born touched the hearts of millions worldwide. The cute footage showed the tiny newborn grabbing hold of its mum’s face, nuzzling against her cheek and sᴄʀᴇᴀᴍɪɴɢ whenever a nurse tries to ʀᴇᴍᴏᴠᴇ it.
