‘I’ve never seen a baby that big.’
Cary Patonai must be thankful her baby boy, Finnley was delivered via C-section.
Cary Patonai welcomed her third child on October 5.
But what makes Finnley’s delivery different to his elder brothers’ is his size.
The ‘little’ boy from Glendale, Arizona weighed in at a whopping 14.1lbs…in other words, he was 6.4kg.
Cary admits she did have a “big” baby belly, but put it down to having double the normal amount of amniotic fluid.

‘I’ve never seen a baby that big’
The American supermum told Fox News, “He was so big, plus, I had almost double the amniotic fluid, so to say I had a big baby belly and that I was absolutely completely uncomfortable isn’t enough.”
Thankfully, Cary’s scheduled C-section was moved forward after her waters broke during a routine check-up.
“Finnley was a little celebrity at the hospital. Nurses and doctors were non-stop talking about him. He is quite tall, too at 23.75 inches,” Cary explained.
“As soon as they pulled him out, they’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s huge!’
“Everybody was freaking out, like, ‘I’ve never seen a baby that big, I can’t believe it.”
Needing size-two nappies and clothing for a nine-month-old, Cary says her baby boy is, “So perfect and round in every way.
“He’s definitely my squishy little honey bear.
“There was one point in the NICU that he was with one of four babies, and his weight was their three total all together, so we were laughing at that,” Cary said.
“He is such a good sweet baby. I am so grateful everything ended on such a great positive side.”

‘He took size-three diapers’
In Australia, the average weight of a newborn is anywhere from 2.7 kilograms to four kilograms and the average length is around 50 centimetres.
Earlier this year, a TikTokker called Shan shared a similar birth story, revealing her baby weighed-in at an incredible 6.6kg.
“At 38 weeks and one day, I had my second son via C-section with two doctors assisting,” she explained in her video.
“Because he came in at a whopping 14 pounds, point six ounces.”
Just like Cary’s Finnley, Shan’s baby was also almost 24 inches long, that’s nearly 60 centimetres.
Shan, who’s also American, said: “The NICU didn’t even have diapers for him or clothes, they had to go upstairs to pediatrics and get size three diapers and he came home in clothing, sized six to nine months.”
