The Toyota 4Runner has been a rugged off-road warrior for Toyota over the years. While the current generation 4Runner is long overdue for a redesign, the current generation model is still a popular choice among off-roaders. The Japanese auto giant has revealed some notable updates coming to the 4Runner for the 2022 model year.
Lime Rush Adds Boldness To Color Pallette
A big change that many buyers might notice on the TRD Pro model is the all-new Lime Rush exterior color. This hue first made its appearance on the Tacoma TRD Pro, and the vivid green is one of the special colors that Toyota has unleashed over the years. The lighting in the 4Runner has been tweaked for 2022, with all models getting full LED headlights. Base and lower trims get LED foglights and low beams, which helps eliminate the need to climb up the trim ladder to access brighter eyes. Rear occupant alert technology is also added for 2022, while Blind Spot Monitoring Technology is added to SR5 Premium, TRD Off-Road Premium, TRD Pro, and the Limited Model.
The 4Runner also gets an all-new trim with the debut of the TRD Sport model. Unlike other flavors of 4Runner, this one sin;t meant for the trail and is instead meant to give the 4Runner a sporty variant for on-road performance. The bulk of this transformation is achieved with tweaked exterior styling that adds more color-matching accents for the front grille, rocker panels, and even the body moldings. Trim exclusive 20-inch wheels are also included and come with grey accents in the inner parts of the stylish hoops.
