When Eliza became ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ, she and her husband, Ben, had not even known each other for long. In fact, it was only three months after dating that the couple had found out that they would soon be called mom and dad. Fortunately, they both felt destined to take care of the child and took on the situation excitedly. Charlie is their first child. Six weeks later, she discovered she was ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ again, this time with identical twins, and Jack and Wolfe were born in the same year as Charlie. That’s three births in 11 months, or exactly one year.
She could not believe she became ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ that quickly. She said: “We conceived our first child, Charlie, three months after we began dating! Ben had always been eager to become a parent, and we were thrilled at the prospect of starting our own family. Ben’s notion of a family consisted of two children, but I’ve always desired to have as many children as possible; nothing thrills me more than the prospect of strolling around the streets of MV with my own little brood.”
While the first six weeks after ɢɪᴠɪɴɢ ʙɪʀᴛʜ were typically the most difficult, Ms. Curby recalls feeling especially ꜰᴀᴛɪɢᴜᴇᴅ after ɢɪᴠɪɴɢ ʙɪʀᴛʜ to Charlie. She shared: “My mother always believed it took six weeks to ʀᴇsᴜʀꜰᴀᴄᴇ. She was ꜰᴀᴛɪɢᴜᴇᴅ trying to find out how to be a mother, but a month after ɢɪᴠɪɴɢ ʙɪʀᴛʜ to Charlie, she felt very, really xust.” And it took around two weeks and four tests to determine that she was ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ. Thus, they went to the doctor, who prescribed a utsu for the pair. Ms Curby stated: “The technician seemed hesitant and uneasy before eventually stating, ‘Well, it’s early days… but…’” I believe there are two’ I was so yet very happy — I believe everyone has a st s for identical twins.”
She was a whopping 35kg heavier than her pre babies 55kg frame. Her ᴘᴏᴏʀ body hadn’t even had a chance to ʀᴇᴄᴏᴠᴇʀ after the first. She was however lucky to have a problem free ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄʏ. Both boys made it to over 36 weeks, which was the goal, and passed the 3kg mark. She added: “Emotionally it took me approximately two months and somewhere about 2000 Google ‘twin ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ sᴛᴏᴍᴀᴄʜ’ photos to come to grips with the news. I simply didn’t think about it too much since it made me anxious to consider the ‘how’.”
Now, with a one-year-old and two eight-week-olds, the family goes through about 20 nappies a day — that’s 140 a week. In all her spare time, Ms Curby has written a blog about her experiences called Twingenuity, in which she recalls being so tired she washed her hair with face wash, pumped without attaching the bottles and picked up the kids from day care — but left one behind, which her partner had to go back for.
