Revealed The meaning behind Kylian Mbappe’s goal celebration for France and PSG explained

It’s one of the most famous goal celebrations in the world and Liverpool supporters will hope they don’t see the 24-year-old striker performing it

It’s one of football’s most famous goal celebrations and Liverpool fans will be hoping they don’t see Kylian Mbappe performing it.

The 19-year-old Paris Saint-Germain striker will walk out at Anfield to play the Reds in their opening Champions League group game, but admits he stole the crossed arms look from his brother, Ethan, who did it after scoring a goal playing FIFA.

“He scored a goal and celebrated by crossing his arms,” he said, as revealed in new unauthorised biography, Mbappe.

“Five minutes later, he stopped and said ‘Kylian, you could do that in a match.’ So I did it.”

“So it happened in Dortmund and I did it. He was happy. I told him: ‘Now I’ve stolen it, it’s mine!’”

The game he is referring to is when he was playing for Monaco against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League quarter-finals in April 2017.

Mbappe scored twice in the first leg to hand his side a 3-2 win in a year that saw him earn a £162m transfer to PSG, which was finalised earlier in 2018, by which time he was also a World Cup winner, scoring four goals en route to victory.

Before the move to Paris, though, it has been revealed Liverpool were actually in talks to sign the teenager on two separate occasions, one in the winter of 2015/16 and the other in summer 2017.

However, manager Jurgen Klopp could not guarantee him minutes on the pitch the first time around and by the time a second approach was made, they were blown out of the water by their Champions League rivals.
