When Peabody the miniature horse was born, he was so tiny that his mother abandoned him because he was too small to nurse. However, he was able to find some new furry friends that made him feel loved.
When he was just six weeks old, tiny Peabody weighed only 19 pounds and stood 16 ½ inches tall. He was the smallest horse in the world at his age.
A Bundle of Cuteness
After a vet told Peabody’s original owner that he should be euthanized due to his health complications, Faith Smith stepped up to care for the adorable mini. Faith, who is based out of San Diego, California, is the owner of Faithful Minis.

Peabody, who was a dwarf, came to Faith with several health problems. He couldn’t walk, his jaw was out of line and his previous owners thought he was deaf and blind.
Faith knew that Peabody deserved a chance at life. So, she rented a van and drove across the country to pick up the vulnerable miniature horse.
Due to his incredibly small size, Faith kept Peabody inside her house. Peabody shared the home with three adorable French Bulldogs.

“Horses are never indoor animals, but Peabody is so small that he could never live outside unless he gets bigger, and we’re not sure if he will. At present, he lives inside the house with the dogs,” said Faith after adopting Peabody.
After arriving at his new home, Peabody’s jaw began to align and he got special shoes to help him walk. His new owners also came to the realization that he was not completely blind.
Though at first Peabody was nervous around the French Bulldogs, he soon began to warm up to his canine companions. He even began playing with the dogs, which happen to be just about the same size as him.

His fans began calling him “Lil Pea” and he even got his own line of merchandise. His videos have gotten over 360 million views and he even made a guest appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
Peabody quickly became quite the celebrity, as he did everything from playing with the French bulldogs to napping on a king-sized bed.

Like many dwarf miniature horses, Peabody continuously faced many health problems. Though he was full of life and running all around Faith’s house, Peabody’s health, unfortunately, took a turn for the worse in September.
At just four months old, sweet Peabody sadly passed away from liver failure. His caring owners and vets did everything they could for him, but sadly there was nothing that could be done to save him.
Despite his short life, Peabody made a huge impact and brought joy to millions of people all across the world.
