N’Golo Kante was lauded by supporters after receiving the Legion of Honour alongside his France team-mates for winning the World Cup.
Didier Deschamps’ squad clinched the trophy last summer with a 4-2 victory over Croatia in the final thanks to a Mario Mandzukic own goal and strikes from Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe, Paul Pogba.
France president Emmanuel Macron awarded the players and coaching staff the Chevaliers de la Légion d’Honneur, which is the country’s highest level of civil merit.

Supporters rushed to praise 32-year-old Kante, who played a key role in his country’s march to the title, with one saying: ‘So refreshing and inspiring to see such humility.’

Having lost his father aged 11 and picked up garbage as a child, Kante has enjoyed a stunning rise to the top over the past nine years.
After starting out with ninth-tier JS Suresnes in 2010, the midfielder worked his way up from the third division in 2014 to make his Ligue 1 debut with Caen in 2015.
From there he joined Premier League side Leicester in 2015 and helped them earn a shock title before ending the season by moving to Chelsea and lifting the World Cup with France.
Since his £30million move to Stamford Bridge, Kante has won the Premier League, FA Cup and the Europa League.

The current France squad, which features 12 World Cup winners, beat Bolivia 2-0 in a friendly on Sunday with Thomas Lemar and Antoine Griezmann scoring.
The team will now visit Turkey on June 8 and then Andorra on June 11 in Euro 2020 qualifying.
They missed out on competing in the Nations League finals after a disappointing group stage campaign.
Kante is hailed as the best midfielder in the world, after winning the Champions League with chelsea.
Kante grew up in a disadvantaged family with 8 siblings. Difficulties piled up on the family when Kante’s father passed away when he was only 11 years old. From a young age, he had to help his mother pick up bottles to support the family. The only way his family could survive was to work and work hard.
