A heart warming video has emerged of a three-year-old boy beaming with joy as he sees his parents’ faces for the first time after trying on new glasses.
Three-year-old Jaxon Emberton, who was born with a ᴄʜʀᴏᴍᴏsᴏᴍᴀʟ ᴀʙɴᴏʀᴍᴀʟɪᴛʏ know as DɪGᴇᴏʀɢᴇ sʏɴᴅʀᴏᴍᴇ, smiled with delight as his new glasses were placed on his ʜᴇᴀᴅ at Children’s of Alabama ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ in Birmingham.
DɪGᴇᴏʀɢᴇ sʏɴᴅʀᴏᴍᴇ, also known as 22oz 11.2 deletion sʏɴᴅʀᴏᴍᴇ is a ᴅɪsᴏʀᴅᴇʀ ᴄᴀᴜsᴇᴅ when a small part of ᴄʜʀᴏᴍᴏsᴏᴍᴇ 22 is ᴍɪssɪɴɢ from someone’s ⒹⓃⒶ . The ɢᴇɴᴇᴛɪᴄ condition is ᴅɪᴀɢɴᴏsᴇᴅ with a ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴛᴇsᴛ. The little boy underwent his first open ʜᴇᴀʀᴛ sᴜʀɢᴇʀʏ when he was just 11 days old and had his second one at six weeks old. The infant , who also spent the first 255 days of his life in ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ, will have to ᴜɴᴅᴇʀɢᴏ at least two more sᴜʀɢᴇʀɪᴇs in the future. Dᴏᴄᴛᴏʀs also had to ᴘᴇʀꜰᴏʀᴍ a ᴛʀᴀᴄʜᴇᴏsᴛᴏᴍʏ on the infant as he was ᴜɴᴀʙʟᴇ ᴛᴏ ʙʀᴇᴀᴛʜ without the help of a ᴠᴇɴᴛɪʟᴀᴛᴏʀ. Initially, his parents Charles Emberton and Cassie Booth did not believe he had ᴇʏᴇsɪɢʜᴛ problems until a ᴅᴏᴄᴛᴏʀ told them he could not see clearly past his ɴᴏsᴇ and needed some sᴛʀᴏɴɢ ʟᴇɴsᴇs.
Mr Emberton said: ” Once we put those glasses on him it was one of the most amazing moments. Seeing his little face light up when the world opened up for him was all the confirmation we needed that the glasses were exactly what he needed. Jaxon’s reaction proved the world had now opened up for him. The footage was filmed on April 13 and has been shared widely online. His smile has captured the ʜᴇᴀʀᴛs of so many on social media. I remember looking at the video the next morning and seeing how many views he’d already gotten and we were floored.” Emberton added:” It’s amazing to read all the comments and see just how his smile can brighten someone’s day.” His mum later wrote on social media: “Until recently, we had no idea how bad ʜᴏᴡ ʙᴀᴅ Jaxon’s ᴇʏᴇsɪɢʜᴛ really was. He adapted so well for someone who couldn’t really see anything, at least not with any kind of ᴄʟᴀʀɪᴛʏ, past his own ɴᴏsᴇ. My heart has been ʙʀᴏᴋᴇɴ for weeks since we found out. Today Jax got his glasses! And for the first time, he can actually see his surroundings! My heart is so full right now!”
After Jaxon’s parents shared the footage on social media, viewers praised the emotional scenes, with one calling the toddler ‘absolutely precious.’ One person wrote: ” This is amazing! I’m so happy you shared this special moment!” Another added: “I love it. He was like ‘oh wait, I can see y’all now!”’ Another user commented: ‘Amazing!’ The family, from Birmingham, Alabama , is currently raising funds for a new ᴠᴇʜɪᴄʟᴇ, which will help accommodate Jaxon’s wheel chair and ᴇǫᴜɪᴘᴍᴇɴᴛ as he grows older.
