Butland signed for Manchester United last week on loan from Crystal Palace, becoming the club’s first signing of the 2023 January transfer window.
The goalkeeper is set to feature in a Manchester United matchday squad for the first time tonight against Charlton Athletic.
There is even a chance Butland could be called into the starting line-up against the League One side.
Erik ten Hag indicated in his press conference that he would be choosing between Jack Butland and Tom Heaton, with David de Gea likely to get a rest.
The manager told the club website that Butland’s training performances would influence his decision.
He said: “Tom [Heaton] was, many times, on the bench. He had bad luck when he was injured for the Carabao Cup, the first one against Aston Villa. Then Martin [Dubravka] was keeping and he did very well. Now the situation with [Jack] Butland coming in, I have to see his performance in training.
“But the Carabao Cup is coming quick and then we will make a choice. Tom is, of course, more adapted to our way of play and has more connection to the dressing room, to the team, but still I have a decision to make on Tuesday. But, for me, there is no issue.”
Butland has played against Charlton before, one of four Manchester United players to do so, including Harry Maguire.
The Carabao Cup quarter-final kicks off at 8pm with team news released at 7pm – however, the match is not being broadcast in the UK.
