It is no secret that Real Madrid have had to deal with injuries throughout the course of the ongoing season. There have been several key players who have had to spend time out on the sidelines with respective issues and the club have barely been fully healthy at any point of time. There is some good news for Carlo Ancelotti’s side ahead of the Super Cup final against Barcelona though.
Several players had picked up knocks in the game against Valencia in the semi-final. And while Lucas Vazquez has been ruled out for six to seven weeks, the others like Eduardo Camavinga, Eder Militao and Fede Valverde seem to be on the road to recovery. On the other hand, the likes of Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy were not believed to be 100 percent even before that match.
As reported by AS, in Real Madrid’s recent training session, only Vazquez was missing, as they prepared to face Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final this weekend.
Of course, it must be pointed out that David Alaba and Aurelien Tchouameni were never in the frame to feature in the Spanish Super Cup, having been ruled out for around three weeks with respective injuries they suffered before the tournament.
Real Madrid handed injury boost ahead of Super Cup final vs Barcelona
It is safe to say that this is good news for Real Madrid heading into an El Clasico final in the Spanish Super Cup.
Neither team has looked in top form since the return from the World Cup break and both needed penalties to get into the final.
Thus, it will be very interesting to see how things turn out this weekend. This game is expected to be very different to the first El Clasico of the campaign, which Real Madrid won comfortably by a 3-1 scoreline.
Now, it is hard to remember the last time Ancelotti’s side won a game comfortably though. Let’s just hope they turn their form around against Barcelona and add another trophy to their cabinet.
