Carrom is a popular indoor game that is often played by people of all ages. One reason why people play carrom is that it is easy to learn and can be enjoyed by both beginners and experienced players.
Many people play carrom as a form of entertainment or as a way to relax and unwind after a long day. But did you know there are carrom tournaments as well? If you have been a player, we know you want to participate in one and perhaps win too.
As a matter of fact, the majority of people think that goals should be accomplished within a certain time frame. However, it is also true that no matter your age, it’s never too late to learn new things and pursue your passion. Age is simply a number, and numerous viral videos of elderly people performing extraordinary feats only demonstrate the same.
Recently, an 83-year-old Pune woman who exemplifies the same, left internet users motivated after her grandson tweeted about her prowess at the game.
Akshay Marathe, the woman’s grandson, posted a video on Twitter in which she is seen acing each shot while competing in a competition against a much younger woman. He was also pleased to announce that she had won a gold medal in the doubles category and a bronze medal in the singles category at the All-Magarpatta City carrom event in Pune.
“Inspired by my 83-year-old Aaji who won Gold in the Doubles and Bronze in the singles in Pune’s All-Magarpatta City carrom tournament against much younger and steadier hands,” he wrote in the caption of the tweet while sharing a video
In another tweet, Marathe uploaded two photos of himself and his buddies playing the board game with his “Aaji,” and jokingly claimed some of the credit for her triumph. “We can take some credit for practicing with her although @abhijeet_dipke and I got destroyed by Aaji, despite being paired with @PulkitS_,” he wrote.
People on the internet felt inspired
A man wrote, “Aaji ji rocks inspiration to all dadi jis of nation. Age is just factor… Dadi ji ne prove kar diya.”
Another man added, “You thought you could defeat Ajji by pairing her with a weak player… but you underestimated my 6 months of practice.”
A man recited a personal story and added, “I think it’s time to show off my art skills in my school life.. I have won many carrom competitions. Now after watching grandma’s game, I feel like playing carrom again with my wife and grandkids.. Bravo grandma.. Congratulations… Shirish Kulkarni, classmate Pradeep.”
