Of the catalogued custom body offerings from Packard in 1940 none is rarer than this Darrin Sport Sedan. One of just two produced, and thought to be the only survivor, it is a rare closed creation from designer Howard ‘Dutch’ Darrin, who was better known for the racy convertibles he created for Hollywood playboys. This rare car is a prototype which never went into production. Two similar cars, the model 730, were also produced without reaching production. The chassis is similar to the Packard 180 with a 138-inch wheelbase, and a 356-cubic inch 160 horsepower engine with a three-speed transmission.…

Peerless began as a producer of clothes ringers; later turning to bicycles in the 1890s. The firm launched its first car, the single-cylinder Motorette, in 1901. Peerless Motor Cars of Cleveland, Ohio (1900 to June 1931) was the first company to adopt what would become the standard of automobile design, a front-mounted engine driving the rear wheels through a solid drive shaft. The Master 8 Sedan has a Continental Straight 8 engine with 322 cubic inches producing 120 horsepower on a 125-inch wheelbase. There are only 327 Peerless Motor cars still known to exist with just ten known from 1931.…
The bizarre discovery of Ancient Tisulsky princess. The casket coffin contained a pink, transparent, mineral fluid. A thin, beautiful girl of unusually good looks, aged approximately thirty. She is made by spiral stitch and has high skin (about 180 C), European skins and large, open blue eyes. Her hair was dark, shaded brown, with a rose-colored hue. It hung down to the bottom of her stomach. Her hands were soft and had neatly cut nails. The length of the white lace see-through gown was just below her knees. Bright flowers were adorning her short sleeves. She appeared to be asleep,…
A 164-foot crater burst open in a desolate region of the Siberian tundra, according to the Russian news agency Vesti Yamal. Journalists from the publication spotted the crater during an assignment on the Yamal Peninsula in June and rele ased their footage this week. Greg Fiske, a geographer at the Woodwell Climate Research Center, was in Siberia during an unusually hot period — about 90 degrees Fahrenheit — when a strange news story came out. Pilots had flown over the Yamal Peninsula and reported a huge hole in the ground that seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, in the…
For decades, disclosure has been one of, if not the most talked about topics in the UFO and alien community. Now, it’s happening right before our very eyes, and most of us seem to be oblivious to the magnitude of what is actually going on. A consultant for the Pentagon U.F.O program is speaking out about retrievals from “off-world vehicles not made on this earth.” Eric W. Davis, an astrophysicist who worked as a subcontractor and then a consultant for the Pentagon U.F.O. program since 2007 told the New York Times he gave a classified briefing to a Defense Department…
The evidence that our planet harbored intelligent life before humans is increasingly evident. Now, one theory could reveal that a comet destroyed an ancient civilization more than 13,000 years ago. A comet would have created a cataclysm similar to the one that destroyed the dinosaurs. Graham Hancock , one of the most controversial researchers of recent years, wrote a book entitled “Wizards of the Gods: The Forgotten Wisdom of Earth’s Lost Civilization.” In it, he mentions an ancient pre-human civilization on Earth and how it was destroyed by a giant comet more than 13,000 years ago. An ancient civilization died out before mankind…
1970 Plymouth Cuda ‘King Kong Cuda’ is one of the greatest street machines ever built in Australia. Behind the scenes, Graeme Cowin is one of the godfathers of the car community; an extremely influential figure in the sports of drag racing and sprint karts. So, it’s no surprise his King Kong Cuda is a big deal… a very big deal. The Plymouth Barracuda, in all its glory, serves as Rocket Industries’ promotional vehicle, paraded at events around the nation and has won basically everything there is to win.– The original plan was to build a ‘street-able’ Hemi-powered version but as…
This tri-five Chevy marries a derelict exterior look with a leather-heavy, almost steampunk interior. The ’55-’57 Chevy has always been one of the most popular platforms for racers and customizers, and it’s great fun to see how builders go about creating examples to stand out from the crowd. From a field in Memphis to the Mobil 1 booth at SEMA this car certainly do that. Retro Designs Speed & Custom in Concord, North Carolina was commissioned by Chevy Performance’s The Block to built this 1956 Chevy Bel Air Sports Sedan. The project is called Boosted Bela and as the name…
This 1970 Plymouth Superbird going up for auction at Mecum auction event this week. This all-original Superbird equipped with a 390-horsepower 440-cubic-inch Super Commando V-8 engine with a six-barrel carburetor and a four-speed manual transmission is headed for the auction block. For those who care about the histories of Mopar and NASCAR, there are few classic cars more iconic and desirable than the Plymouth Superbird. Chrysler’s 1970 Plymouth Road Runner-based follow-up to the original Dodge Charger Daytona, which was developed specially to go racing in NASCAR. Like the Charger Daytona, the Plymouth Superbird featured a sleek, prominent nose cone, an absurdly…
Taking its moniker from one of the ocean’s most generally passive, beautifully contoured creatures, the Corvette Stingray was more than just a beautiful design, much like its namesake. At a stoplight in the early 70s it could have easily been rolled up on by any number of hulking monsters that mistook its gorgeous lines for being “soft.” But, those folks did so at their own peril. As they would quickly discover the Stingray coupe was, indeed – a fearsome animal when provoked. So, picture yourself in a similar scenario at that stoplight, late night in 1971 or ’72, but imagine…
When it comes to engine swap, how big engine is big enough? Bigger is better. Period. Custom builds usually have one thing in common – the engines that power them are not factory engines. But rarely do you come across a build that has a custom-built bespoke engine sitting between the fenders.– Mike Heim from Quality Custom Rides in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, fitted his 67’ Camaro with one of the first V12 LS1 engines in the world. This car is Heim’s personal ride, and not only that, but he has owned the car since he was just 19 years old – making it…
For most folks, being ‘dumped’ has negative connotations: fired by a boss; ditched by a lover, but… But for Ben Gatt and his outlandishly low ’39 Lincoln Zephyr, it’s the only way to be. Fads and trends may come and go but old school cool is always in fashion. Just take Ben Gatt’s DUMPED Lincoln Zephyr as a prime example.– Ben Gatt is the rarest of breeds: a drag racer who has been catapulting himself down the quarter-mile for 50 years. A legend that’s still competitive. Ben is a member of the old guard and has certainly paid his dues.…
This is Blasfamous. A ground up, hand-fabricated, turbocharged bucket of fun. We’re talking about Chris Lee’s ’49 Ford that’s powered by a 1JZ Toyota engine, Nissan 6spd transmission and a chassis built entirely from scratch. And yes, you are right – it look downright blasphemous. Chris is a very talented photographer but he is a home grown fabricator too. From top to bottom, this customized post-WWII-era Ford pickup is all Chris’ handy work.– Here’s a little excerpt from Chris about it: “It’s a ground up, homegrown mess of parts assembled in what I describe as a giant anxiety attack. The…
In 1978, when Ron Wolcott was 11 years old, he found himself hanging out at a local rod and custom shop near his house in Columbus, Indiana. One day during a visit to the shop he caught a bad case of hot rod fever. An affluent customer arrived trailering a ’32 ford coupe hot rod that needed some work.– The instant the rod’s blown engine was fired up, Ron was hooked; he never stopped dreaming of one day owning a real hot rod of his own. Not until he was in his early forties did his dream become a reality.…
Paleontologists in Italy have uncovered up to eleven skeletons belonging to a dinosaur species that lived approximately 80 million years ago. Included in these remains is the largest and most complete dinosaur that has ever been discovered in the country. The bones, which belonged to a dinosaur species named Tethyshadros insularis, were unearthed at a location called Villaggio del Pescatore which is close to the Italian city of Trieste. It is believed that the creature inhabited one of the European archipelago islands in the Tethys Ocean. Tethyshadros insularis was a type of herbivorous Hadrosauroid that grew as long as 13 feet (4 meters) and weighed as…
Today, a strange stone circle’s bizarre photo went viral, whipping up the UFO community. I also came across a video on the UFO Mania YouTube channel that solicited feedback from viewers by posing the question, “What precisely is this? Where is this peculiar building located? I did some investigation and discovered the following: This Stone Circle, which is located in the Turkish province of Mersin, is a perfect geometric shape that either developed naturally or was previously engraved. This petroglyph is intriguing because it exactly mimics the first pictograms that were discovered in English fields in 1990: two circles connected…
Sherry Wilde thinks that extraterrestrials from a faraway galaxy abducted her. In this presentation, Sherry Wilde makes a distinction between being an abductee and a volunteer while also revealing some intriguing details about “her trip” with the aliens. Sherry had just turned 17 when it all started. She recalls a situation in which she disappeared for a while. She had always wondered what had occurred, but she brushed it off as a case of forgetting. But she chose to go through hypnotic regression, and it was then that she discovered she had been brought on board an extraterrestrial spaceship not…
After completing a reconnaissance operation, the Italian Air Force pilot was flying back to the base in Treviso when an unidentified flying object crossed Italian airspace without being detected. The military aircraft interceptor was then ordered by the Istrana radar center to intercept and identify the invader. On June 18, 1979, at 11:30 a.m., pilot Giancarlo Cecconi was flying his G-91R fighter with G-91R group 14 of the Air Force’s 2nd Fighter Wing back to Treviso AFB, Italy, after completing a reconnaissance mission. This 1957 Buick Special have big wheels, big brakes, big block… this Buick is absolutely incredible and amazing piece of custom automotive art. In the decade following World War II, the automobile Industry advanced in both technology and style. Having acquired skills and knowledge while producing aircraft during the war, hot rodders and OEM manufacturers looked toward developing aerodynamics and custom styling in the vehicles of the time. One car designed at that time was the 1957 Buick Special. Taking its stylish lines and sleek looks to the next level with a blend of modern customization are the guys at…
Chevrolac? Cadillet? Ruben Allender’s El Morocco blurred the line. The rarest of the 1957 Chevys, the “Poor Man’s Cadillac”, the El Morocco was a customized full-size car produced by Ruben Allender based on the 1956 and 1957 Chevrolet. For the first time ever, GM allowed an outsider to design a custom Chevy and this rare 1957 Chevy is an example of what happens when beauty meets beast.– Allender was not a coachbuilder in the traditional sense, but rather a customizer as the 1956-1957 El Moroccos were face-lifted Tri-Five Chevrolets with bone stock drivetrains and interiors whose bodywork was restyled to…
We just love seeing flawless classic cars transformed into lovely hot rods like this 1967 Chevrolet Impala.– The paint is immaculate, the 20-inch Boyd wheels perfectly fit this fastback, the factory style vinyl interior is very clean and smooth, the 327 V8 motor is nicely detailed and married to a Powerglide auto transmission. Ryan is an Aussie gearhead who found this Chevy Impala on Ebay and although the car was not exactly what he expected he did not give up.– He faced number of challenges during the build, but nowadays he and his family appreciate and enjoy cruising in his…
This amazing black 1966 Cadillac Coupe Deville is a real beauty. It is an astonishing low rider and a beauty of a machine. With swooping angled lines tracing alongside the dark silhouette of this Coupe De Ville, the visual experience is taken to the next level by the slammed and menacing stance it has, sitting on black aluminum wheels, complementing the paintjob, this car is beyond astonishing. This charismatic vehicle is powered by a original 429cui engine.– It is easy to see how it stands out from the rest of the cars on the street. The candy red interior is…
Oddly enough, the creator of this trick 1930 Model A Tudor, Richard Dabbs, doesn’t think of himself as a hot rodder. “I’m just a guy stuck in the 60s who likes to build period-correct machinery” he says. Richard’s whole approach to his funky rod (aptly named Brown Sugar) was to build what would have been the latest whiz-bang machine if it had been pieced together in 1960. I guess that makes Richard a high-tech tuner who was born in the wrong decade!– The late 50s and early 60s were hugely prosperous times in the United States. Auto giants Chevrolet, Ford…
Look at this ‘Cuda. Have you ever seen a more high-end, every-trick-in-the book, custom E-Body show car? This isn’t some ordinary show car though. Built by Jesse Matlock (Jesse’s Auto Body Shop) the “Striker” ‘Cuda is way over the top, but at the same time its old school style is well retained. For a whole lot less, customers could now have essentially the exact same car, minus the little numbers on the dash, and 99 percent of the world would never know the difference.– This ‘Cuda was built over a 5 year period. It was Jesse’s “project between a project”.…
